Regional Chamber of Commerce Congressional Debate
Went to the debate last night. Mr. Wilson was, of course, a “no show”. If I had his voting record, I would not have shown up either. “Thanks” to everyone for the opportunity to debate on the issues and to , once again, spread the truth. Also, just a reminder to our Christian friends, Joe Wilson claims to be a Christian but in reality he is Pro-Choice. He says one thing, but does the opposite. His words simply do not match his actions. He will tell the voters anything to get elected. You can verify his “pro choice” stance by going to Votesmart.org and click on the “political courage test” and then look under the topic of abortion.
We had a great meal at Wren’s in Beaufort and we were most welcomed there. We were extremely encouraged by the enthusiasm of Nora who is a Constitution lover and carries a pocket-sized Constitution around with her. We told her that we had been reading the Constitution on the way to the debate last night. The Constitution is like a great old novel. It just gets better and better each time you read it, and you continue to discover things that you didn’t see before.
We are campaigning in Beaufort County today and then we’re off to the other Counties, working our way to Columbia tomorrow.

Places To Go, People To See
While campaigning the last few days in the Columbia area, we saw J.R. with WLTX at the S.C. State Fair. And, we had a delicious salad and met some great people at the Hampton Vineyard Restaurant on Main Street in downtown Columbia. The next day, from an invitation from Ali, we visited the Museum of Art in Columbia. It’s a great place and I highly recommend it. We’ll go back after the election, when we have more time. Had a great breakfast at “Brunchies” . The coffee and grits were wonderful as usual.
We met Stephen Hudson with the Department of Agriculture and I believe we are “kindred spirits” when it comes to energy independence which is, of course, part of our platform. We talked about how we must become energy independent with greater development in, and use of things such as biodiesel, solar, wind, natural gas and others. It was a great trip and we got a lot accomplished.

Campaigning Continues
We were in Columbia this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Had a news interview Thursday, 7:00 p.m. with J.R. at WLTX, Columbia. You can view this interview by going to their website and type in “Marc Beaman” in the search box. Had a newspaper interview with Bill West of the Lexington Chronicle on Friday. We installed additional campaign signs along Highway 321 and visited the S.C. State Fair and the Museum of Art in downtown Columbia.

Honoring my promise
As I promised when I began campaigning, I have not accepted money from special interest, political action committees, lobbyists or big business. It’s by accepting funds from these sources that our campaign process has become corrupted. My campaign has been financed by myself and the people. Joe Wilson and Rob Miller, the Republican and Democrat, have accepted massive donations from these sources with hopes of over-whelming you with a barrage of media in an effort to drown out my voice. Joe Wilson was recently quoted saying, “Having ties to Lobbyists I don’t think is a negative. In general, Lobbyists are very honest and capable people.” Rob Miller is now trying to paint himself as a Conservative, but actually he wishes to continue the failed policies of the Democratic party and “Queen” Nancy Pelosi.
This November 2nd, don’t fall for their slick tactics. By accepting huge sums of money from these sources, they are in essence “selling” your vote. This November 2nd, send them a clear message that we are no longer for sale. We will not be purchased and sold on the auction block of a campaign process that has become corrupted, and is about nothing more than money and power. By doing so, you will send a message of hope to others around this country that we, the American people, have had enough of their corruption and their failed plans and policies. We can end this evil, corrupted system and we’ll lead the way together so that others may follow. When elected, a sign will hang on my door that will read, “Lobbyists Not Welcomed”. Campaign Trail
This past Thursday and Friday, we called on TV and Radio Stations in the Columbia area. We had a radio interview on Saturday, and we would like to extend our thanks to Matt Long for his time and guidance. The interview will be aired on State-wide radio today or tomorrow starting around Noon. Also on Saturday, we attended the Italian Festival in Columbia and the Blue Grass Festival in Cayce. The response was over-whelmingly positive, the food was delicious and the music was great. We had a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and support. Keep the faith, keep praying and spread the word.

My Plan
I have a plan as well. The first part of my plan to stimulate the economy is governmental and would create immediate stimulation:
#1 No earmarks, none, zero. No pork, no bridges to nowhere.
#2 A 10% immediate, across-the-board cut of all government programs.
#3 Reduce taxes immediately.
#4 Outsource programs where cost-effective.
#5 Set date to achieve balanced budget.
#6 10% across-the-board pay cut for all elected officials.
If we have to tighten our belts, make sacrifices and downsize our companies and households, the government should have to also. This, along with opportunities and incentives for small businesses would put us on an immediate road to recovery.

More Facts
The following is more of what Republicans & Democrats and their lack of leadership has brought us.
- One in seven Americans are below the poverty level
- One in four families are struggling to put food on the table
- Approximately 10% unemployment
- 18% unemployment for blue collar workers between the age of 18 & 26
- South Carolina is in the top 10 states for Governmental corruption
- 75% of the votes by are elected state officials are not recorded. We have no way to hold then accountable if we don’t know how they are voting. Sounds unbelievable doesn’t it, but you can verify this on line with the South Carolina Political Council.
You and I together can change it. Republican & Democrats like it this way and will not change it. Joe Wilson who spent 10 years in state government did not change it when he was there.
Spread the word and vote for me on November 2nd. Together we will put an end to this madness.

ETV Congressional Debate, District 2
South Carolina ETV, a public State television station, is producing a debate for Congressional candidates of District 2 on October 24th. I recently contacted them to inquire about the debate and was told that I was not invited. When I asked why, Tom Posey, Director of Public Media, told me that I must meet their debate policy as published on their website. Subsequently, I called him again yesterday and asked him to state his facts as to which of the four-part criteria I did not meet. He was unable to do so, stating that he had no facts, polls, or any other evidence as to why I did not meet the criteria. He then told me that it was an editorial decision which sounds much to me like a purely “subjective” decision based on no facts. I asked him when the decision was made, and he stated, “last year”. I asked him what criteria was used and he said that he had none. I asked him to state one thing which would prove that I was not a legitimate candidate. He had no response. I supplied him with my facts, and they are as follows:
#1 I am a registered candidate and have filed and completed all paperwork with both the FEC and the SC Election Commission.
#2 I have been actively campaigning and have been in the newspapers, on television and have had numerous speaking engagements. I have walked the streets and spoken to the public in all ten counties. I have erected signs and billboards. And, I will be releasing ads for television soon.
#3 I have a serious, organized campaign and my response from the general public has been over-whelmingly positive.
#4 Since Mr. Posey could not produce any polls or factual evidence, here is a sampling of some I supplied to him. These are from the most recent Rasmussen polls: 66% of registered voters believe incumbents get re-elected because the rules are rigged. 54% of registered voters believe they could, at random, pick someone out of the phone book and that person would do a better job than their Congressman. 65% believe all incumbents should be voted out and 60% believe that we need a third party. 55% have voted for Independents in the past and 59% feel neither Republicans or Democrats have a good understanding of what is needed. I have more, but I think you see my point.
#5 I have been invited to a Congressional debate by the Chamber of Commerce on October 21st.
It would appear to me that this is just another case of “politics as usual” by both Republican and Democratic parties. They are afraid of the truth and afraid that if the people are given a choice of a third party candidate, they might get voted out of office and lose their power. As I’ve campaigned, I’ve become accustomed to this kind of political exclusion. But, in this case, I’m afraid I must protest. SCETV, by Mr. Posey’s own admission, is a public entity. I believe they have no right to exclude anyone. I believe the reason I am being “boxed out” is that they do not want the public to hear the truth. I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who stated, “my reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.” History has shown us, in my lifetime, that the government produced by the Republican and Democratic parties have created a welfare state, failed to secure our borders, failed to address immigration, squandered our money from social security, failed to lead us to energy independence, bankrupted our economy and have had the audacity to take our money and bail out those responsible for our economic collapse.
I don’t expect things to be fair, but I believe the voting public has a right to hear this candidate’s voice. What ETV is doing is “un-American”. When a government entity gives an unfair advantage to any political party or parties, Americans will continue to realize that the system is rigged. I will campaign harder now and as the polls are reflecting, will win this election. And, in the next election, if all candidates are not invited, this Congressman will boycott the debate.
